Setting & Plot
Where is the major setting?
Toran Castle.

When does this RPG take place?
There isn't a set time period. The year, season, etc changes randomly and without warning. You can look on the main community for the "current" time the game is in.

How do I know when the time shifts?
Leknaat will make a post about the shift.

What is the purpose of the characters gathering?
Dharma is summoning an army to battle Chaos and 'fix the world as it was known. 

Can we only apply for Stars of Destiny, then?
No. Dharma needs True Rune bearers as well, so you can expect former villains to pop up. Non-stars that were important to the plots of the games can also be played-- any help Dharma thinks it can get, it will.

So this is a battle based RPG?
No. We do intent to have battles, but the RP will not just focus on these. Interaction between the characters is also a major point of the game.

What will happen to my character if s/he leaves the castle?
Nothing. The characters are able to move around the world freely. On the same scope, activity in the castle will also be noticeable to outsiders, and anyone can enter the castle.

Can what my character does change his/her history at all?
No. Your character's life has already happened, and in most cases, the characters were all dead long before Yuber defeated Pesmerga. Therefor, your character can not change the outcome of history. Everything will be fixed when Chaos is defeated, including time and history.

My character is dead, then?
Nope. Dharma pulled the people it selected out of the past. Technically they lived their lives already, but they aren't dead.

So, does that mean my character can meet him/herself? And that other people can recognize them?
No, and yes. Dharma has pulled the character out of space and time. So though they have already existed, there is still only one of them. As for dealing with other people, let's make an example. 

Our Albert is still a boy. If we're in a period before he was born, he'd recognize his parents, but they wouldn't recognize him. 

If we were in the right year for his age, his parents would recognize him, though in their minds he is not missing. They will merely think, "Oh, I just saw you in the study. Done reading so soon?" 

And if we were in the proper year for him to be an adult, his parents would note how remarkably similar he looks to their own son when he was that age, and nothing more.

Posting

Where do I post?
The main community is for posting scenes you've done with others on AIM, and for meta-threads. The OOC community is pretty obvious, and you can make personal posts for your characters in their journals. Think of them as diaries. There is also the Comment Box, which works like the boxes in the games-- all of the characters can see those posts.

Can the other characters read my character’s post?
Not in personal journals, no. They are to be treated as personal diaries. The exception to this would be if one character stole another's journal and read it. This would have to be okay with all players involved.

Can other characters see my character's posts in the Comment Box comm?
Yes. The comments box is open for anyone to look in, so the characters can all see those entries and reply if they choose.

Can other characters reply to my character's posts in the Comment Box comm?
Again, yes. Just like there's nothing limiting them from reading it, there's nothing limiting them from making a reply to it.

What can I post the OOC Community?
Announcements, player introduction, character introductions, plot and subplot discussion, and anything else that strikes your fancy, to be honest.

Applying for Characters


How many characters can I play?
Two to start, after some time passes in which you've proved to be a competent player, you can add more for a total of five.

I want to play (insert character) but someone else already has him/her. Can I play a younger or older version of the character?
With the exception of Viki versus Little Viki, no.

I want to play my character as a baby. Can I do that?
Since we allow you to choose the age of your character, technically you may, but keep in mind that the age of the character can hinder his/her participation in plots. Choose your age wisely.

My character has a beast. Can I spoof the beast?
Yes; in fact it's encouraged. This also applies to other companions, such as the tricksters' and the Star Dragon Sword, who will automatically end up in Viktor's possession.

Can I play a beast character?
Generally, no. Beasts that are companions to characters will be taken care of by that character's player. Other animals, such as the Basket Dogs and Flying Squirrels, may eventually end up in the castle, but as NPCs only. This means your character can mention interacting with them (or even interact so long as there's another character in the scene besides yours) but you cannot apply for one. Check around to see which animals are around and which aren't. I may allow exceptions to this rule provided it's an intelligent creature capable of speech -like Sigfried- or something similar, but even then, only if you have another, humanoid character.

Can I play dead characters?
Yes, due to the nature of the RP, it does not matter if a character died prematurely or not. You may take the dead character from any point in their life.

Can I play an OC?
No. Original characters are not and will not be allowed. With over 500 characters to chose from, this shouldn't be a problem.

My character has a True Rune by the end of the game, but at some point another character has the same Rune. What will happen to the Rune when my character or the other one shows up? Are there two of the same Rune?
There is only one of each True Rune. Whoever had the Rune when Dharma came to call will have it in the RP, regardless of what year they're from. Since the Rune recognizes them as its bearer, it will attach itself to them upon arrival. For RP purposes, we assume whoever had the Rune later in the time line has it in the RP. For example, Tir has Soul Eater, not Ted. Wyatt does not have True Water, etc. Also for RP purposes, we assume Hugo was the Flame Champion and that Chris received True Water from Jimba. I need to RP with the player of (character). Where can I get his/her contact information?
Visit our taken character list.

The timeshifts in the game that Leknaat posts about are confusing. Does that mean my character ages?
No. Your character can only get older by the calendar year, not by the timeshifts.

I want to start a major plot within the castle, can I do it?
Absolutely! Post about it in the OOC community if you are looking to recruit players for it, too. Please discuss your idea with all three mods, first, to make sure what you have in mind is okay.

Will there be parties?
Most likely. The Suikoden world seems to celebrate holidays and even weary soldiers need distractions.

Can my character open a business in the castle?
Yes, provided it is within the scope of the character to do. For instance, Leon Silverberg would probably not be tending bar. ^_~
